Honeymoon Bay Ecological Reserve, BC 2021/4/29+
Along Lake Cowichan's south shore and nestled between a myriad of clearcuts and a golf course, Honeymoon Bay Ecological Reserve is a small oasis for the plant life that came before all this activity. It became abundantly clear that pink fawn lilies captured my attention, and so as not to be so singular, photos made in mid-April to mid-May, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2019 were added to this April 29th visitation to display a wider range of spring flowers.
At its prime in the reserve, Erythronium revolutum would be in stands and stands along the forest floor. Timing is critical as it lasts about a week. I was a week late and spring was late in coming, this year.
